Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh was born on May 14, 2000, in Iran. While growing up, his first loves were wrestling and volleyball, two of the most popular sports in Iran. But one day, a friend introduced him to kabaddi, and that changed everything for him! Kabaddi’s fast pace and the chance to show his skills made Shadloui fall in love with the sport.
Shadloui’s father was a professional footballer, so at first, he wasn’t sure about kabaddi and how physically demanding it is. But Shadloui’s talent was clear, and his father soon became one of his biggest supporters, helping him chase his kabaddi dreams.
And the rest is history. Shadloui is now a household name in India, courtesy Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
Career
Mohammadreza Shadlou worked hard and caught the attention of his hero, Gholamreza Mazandarani, Iran’s national kabaddi coach. He missed out on playing in the 2018 Asian Games due to a small setback, he didn’t give up. In 2019, he helped Iran win the Junior Kabaddi World Championship, taking home a gold medal!
In 2023, Shadloui captained Iran at the Asian Kabaddi Championship and led his team to a silver medal. His success didn’t stop there; he was also part of Iran’s winning team at the Dubai Kabaddi Masters.
Pro Kabaddi League Record
In Season 8, he played as the top left-corner defender for the Patna Pirates. His amazing skills earned him a bid of Rs. 31 lakh, keeping him with the team.
In 2023, he made history by being bought for a record-breaking Rs. 2.35 crore by the Puneri Paltan team. Just a year later, in 2024, the Haryana Steelers purchased him for Rs. 2.07 crore. Shadloui is one of the highest paid kabaddi players ever!

Shadloui is not only famous for his high contract prices, but also for his incredible skills on the mat. In the 2023-24 PKL season, he scored the most tackle points with 99 points and had the most successful tackles, with 97 in total. Kabaddi fans were amazed by his powerful and agile defense!
