On September 17, Jio users across India faced a significant network outage, causing a stir on social media platforms. The tracking website, Down Detector, revealed a dramatic spike in reports, highlighting the extent of the disruption.
Jio Network Goes Down across India
At 10:13 am, there were only seven reports of jio network issue, but this number quickly escalated, reaching a staggering 10,552 error reports by 12:36 pm. The most common complaint was ‘No Signal,’ accounting for 68% of the reports, while issues related to mobile internet (18%) and JioFibre (14%) followed.
Interestingly, other major telecom networks in India, including Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and BSNL, appeared to be unaffected during this outage, adding to the frustration of Jio customers. The outage left many users unable to make calls, send or receive messages, or use mobile internet services. Some even reported problems with Jio’s recharge systems and portals.
The hashtag #JioDown quickly started trending on X (formerly Twitter) as users vented their frustrations. Many tagged Jio’s official account, seeking answers and updates on the issue. One user wrote, “Jio appears to be facing an outage. Even their recharge systems/portals are down,” while another complained about the frequent service interruptions.
While some users expressed their displeasure, others turned to humor to cope with the situation. “Jio Network Outage, Vodafone and Airtel Users laughing in corner #JioDown,” read one tweet. Another quipped, “Mukesh Ambani naraz hain #JioDown #JioOutage.”
