The seventh edition of the Laver Cup is here. From 20 September 2024, the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany will host this hard-court tennis tournament, where Team Europe will battle it out against Team World.
This year’s Laver Cup brings together some of the best players in the world, including Carlos Alcaraz, who has been on fire after winning both Wimbledon and the French Open in 2024. On the other hand, Team World, led by the legendary John McEnroe, is looking for back-to-back victories after winning in 2022 and 2023.
With some of the biggest names in tennis competing, this three-day event is a treat for anyone who loves fast-paced, high-stakes action.

What is the Laver Cup?
Named after Australian tennis legend Rod Laver, the Laver Cup started in 2017 and features six players each from Team Europe and Team World. The tournament is unique because it’s more than just about individual wins—it’s a team effort, and every match counts towards the final score.
How Does the Laver Cup Work?
- The event takes place over three days, with five sessions: two on Friday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday.
- Each match follows a best-of-three sets format. If the match goes to a third set, it becomes a 10-point tiebreaker.
- Each player must play at least one singles match in the first two days, but no one can play more than two singles matches across the event.
- Doubles matches are a key part of the strategy: at least four of the six players must play doubles, but the same team can’t play more than once unless it’s for the Decider on Day 3.
- Points increase in value as the tournament progresses: each match win earns one point on Friday, two points on Saturday, and three points on Sunday.
- The first team to reach 13 points wins the Laver Cup. If both teams are tied after 12 matches, a final overtime doubles match will determine the winner.
