Despite its promising star cast, the film managed to sell less than a thousand tickets nationwide, earning a mere Rs 38,000 on its opening day. By the end of its theatrical run, the total earnings were still under Rs 1 lakh, setting a record for one of the lowest-grossing mainstream Bollywood films ever.
The Lady Killer os Now Streaming for Free on YouTube
Starting September 2, 2024, “The Lady Killer” began streaming on the YouTube channel of T-Series, surprisingly available for free. In an unusual move, the film bypassed the usual rent or pay-per-view model, offering itself at no cost to viewers.

The producers, under contractual obligation for an OTT release, needed to meet a December-end deadline for digital streaming rights already sold. This left them with no choice but to release the film in theaters by early November to satisfy the stipulated 4-6-week theatrical window, even though the film was not ready.
With an incomplete film on their hands, the makers chose to forgo any form of promotion. Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar refused to endorse the movie, and there were no interviews, media junkets, or publicity materials other than a trailer. Director Ajay Bahl publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with how the film was released, making it clear that the film’s release strategy was far from ideal.
